The St. Andrew Bay Quilter's Guild (SABQG) was organized March, 1978, and was incorporated as a non-profit organization of the State of Florida in 2000. The general nature and purpose of this non- profit organization is to promote interest and stimulate creativity in the many forms of the quilt and quilting. General meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 9:30 A.M. and the third Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 1608 Baker Court, Panama City, Florida.

Membership in SABQG includes the following:

• Comfort Quilts/Community Service Projects
An ongoing project for many years has been providing nap time quilts for children
attending Head Start in Bay County. The project expanded to include bibs as the
children attending range in age from six weeks to five years old. Workshops are held
regularly to keep the supply maintained.

St. Andrew Bay Quilters’ Guild has provided bed quilts for the veterans residing at
Clifford Chester Sims State Veterans’ Nursing Home in Springfield. Other projects for
the Sims Veterans’ Home have included fidget quilts for use by residents suffering from
Alzheimer’s or Dementia and catheter bag covers to maintain dignity for the residents.

Another ongoing project is providing quilts and other newborn items for the Catholic
Social Services who maintain Matthew’s Room which provides newborn products in the
form of layette kits to help new mothers with needed items for a new baby. The Guild
also collects food items in October and November to help supply the food pantry there.

A recent project of PTSD Mats was undertaken to help some of the veterans in our area
suffering from post traumatic stress disorder from combat.

The St. Andrew Bay Quilters’ Guild is very receptive and helpful when a need in the
community arises. With our supply of talented quilters, we have been able to be of
service in many different areas of our community

An up-to-date selection of quilt related books are available to members for check-out.

Members are emailed a copy of Patchwords each month

Every monthly meeting features an informative period during which a new skill is explained or knowledge of a quilt related subject is reinforced. A separate day each month is set aside for working on community projects.

Each Fall members are invited to spend three days at Laguna Beach Christian Retreat, Panama City Beach, Florida. Members may sew, quilt and/or finish previous projects while someone else worries about housekeeping and preparing meals.

A highlight of each monthly meeting. Each member has an opportunity to let everyone else see her latest quilting creation. Encouraging words and applause from the audience are customary.

Whenever feasible, a bus trip to an out of town quilt show is arranged.

An annual show is scheduled in February. All members are encouraged to involve themselves in the many facets of producing a first-class quilt show. Quilt Show info
